Over the weekend, the Raging Chicken Press caught wind of a confrontation between House Speaker Mike Turzai and Majority Leader David Reed. At the time, we stated that Mike Turzai wanted David Reed out of his post and vice versa.
Capitolwire reporter Kevin Zwick has confirmed that there was a confrontation between the top two leaders in the House. It started before caucus on Saturday when House Speaker Turzai “told a few lobbyists he wanted to oust Reed from his majority leader post,” and Reed confronted him over this.
According to the report, a group of two dozen, bi-partisan House members have held meetings on going for the “nuclear option” if the House Speaker does not produce a budget. The have been meeting with lawyers to draft a resolution to oust Turzai. One source asked “What’s going to move quicker? If there’s not a budget done in the next handful of days to a week, I think this will move quicker than a budget.”
