On October 24, students from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania delivered a petition with 1,200 signatures to and held a sit-in at President Wollman’s office. The petitions stated students’ disgust over professor layoffs and the rally was to show support for those retrenched faculty members.

100 200 [corrected based on multiple news reports] students attending East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, another State System of Higher Ed school and one of eight schools in the system using retrenchment, held a demonstration showing support for their retrenched professors. Kevin Mahoney, editor of the Raging Chicken Press, has been covering the ESU retrenchment story since May, and has continued his coverage through the fall. As the fall semester continues, it seems like students from these universities forcing retrenchment – or layoffs – on their faculty will be taking more action. According to a Facebook event, students from Mansfield University are calling for a system wide rally and lobby day in Harrisburg. The rally and event will be held on December 4, just in time for budget January negotiations.
