With eyes rolling and the nose high up in the air, Slippery Rock University President Cheryl Norton delivered a posh message to students about the APSCUF strike. President Norton follows the list of social media blunders the State System has taken up throughout the past month. PASSHE officials have done everything they can to scare the students into going to class. Chancellor Brogan told students that they must go to class in a Facebook Live session two weeks ago, and then the State System reiterated that point on social media after they walked out of the negotiating session. Then yesterday morning, President Norton published a condescending message of her own to students. She told the students that they hope to work through this and “you know, it was the faculty that decided to go on strike, so, it’s only the faculty that can decide to come back to the classroom.”
Well, that did not turn out as expected with thousands of PASSHE students joining their professors. Kutztown University had hundreds of students walk the picket lines with their professors. West Chester University’s local APSCUF posted a video of hundreds of students flooding out of a university building and join their professors. The scenes were similar at Millersville, Shippensburg and Lock Haven. Even the marching bands from some of these schools were playing rally songs for their teachers.
That was only Day 1. Now we’re on Day 2.
