Philadelphia, PA — Saturday the alt-right group called the Proud Boys along with other alt-right groups gathered on Independence Mall to rally for what they billed as “conservative values.”
The alt-right gathering of approximately 40 people was met with a counter protest of upward of 400 people.
According to our sources at the counter protest, the event was mostly peaceful with only one small scuffle happening when some alt-right rally attendees attempted to infiltrate the counter protest. According to our sources they were swiftly expelled from the crowd.
Unfortunately, according to the Billy Penn news site, one counter protester was mistaken for a proud boy and roughed up.
According to Billy Penn: “[A] Jewish man mistakenly identified as Proud Boy attacked at right-wing rally in Philadelphia… The Fellow Worker Gritty Coalition has since started a GoFundMe for the victim.”
One counter protester, who asked to remain anonymous for his safety, was asked for comment after this news was released.
“Oh no, I didn’t even know!,” he said. “That’s so messed up”
All in all the protest ended at 2:30pm with the counter protesters calling it a victory against Fascism.
Below are pictures taken by R.L. who was at the counter protest.
