Thanks to several of our readers, we were alerted to the fact that sometime in the past two weeks someone managed to mess with our site, causing some virus programs to block our site. Some visitors to the site were alerted to an “Exploit Blackhat SEO (type 1703)” threat from our site. If you are interested in learning more about Blackhat SEOs, check out this link.
Basically, Blackhat SEOs are unethical ways of driving search engines to a specific site. Hackers sometimes find that they can insert a chunk of code into people’s webpages through contact form or by breaking into a sites FTP servers. Best we can tell, if you have visited our site, your own computer should not be in danger.
I’ve tried several fixes thus far, but there still seems to be a problem. In order to try to purge all the malicious code, I am deleting and reinstalling our WordPress theme from scratch. Because of the way our theme is set up, it may take some time to get things back to normal. In the meantime, we will use this basic theme until the fixes are in place.
I want to thank all the readers who alerted us to this problem and who continue to provide feedback.
