Updates Coming to Raging Chicken

Hey all! I wanted to let you all know about a couple of changes you can expect over the next few days and ask for you patience. As you may have noticed, our site has gone offline several times over the past couple of weeks. In fact, this problem began at the end of March and has something to do with a coding conflict in the WordPress theme we use (that’s what gives our site its look). As much as we love the theme we have, the problems have become too much. We have worked with our server host and contacted the developer, with no luck.

We decided to go ahead and purchase a new theme, which will set us back a little bit in our fundraising, but should ensure that our site remains online. In addition, the new theme should help optimize our site and get more people checking out what we do.

As user-friendly as the new theme is, the site may look a little odd for the next few days as we get up to speed on all the new features and layout. We ask for your patience. By next Monday, we should be fully converted.

I want to say a special thank you to all of you who have become members over this past month. Without your membership, we would not be able to make this upgrade. Thank you, thank you.

And for those of you who like what we’re doing and want to make sure we can continue to expand and upgrade our work, please consider becoming a member for as little as $5/month.

$5/month may not sound like a lot, but if a lot of people become members, Raging Chicken Press will continue to bring the noise. And you know as well as I do that the work we do here is needed now more than ever. As I reported a few days ago, it seems like the federal government — the IRS aided by a do-nothing Congress — is standing in the way of non-profit, investigative journalism. Organizations like Raging Chicken Press are now caught between a rock and a hard place. If we are unable to gain 501(c)(3) non-profit status — which makes us eligible to apply for a range of critical grants that help fund investigative journalism — we are forced to rely solely upon personal funds and readers of Raging Chicken becoming members. Please consider becoming a member today.

Check out our site in a couple of days for a new member bonus for the month of August! Thanks!
