The “progressive” front runner for Pennsylvania’s gubernatorial is all happy and giddy that the Willow Grove Air Force Base will be an operational center for President Obama’s ever expanding drone warfare program. Pennsylvania’s 111th Air National Guard will be operating the MQ-9 Reaper drones, which have been used in warfare across the Middle East and in the “wars” that aren’t happening in Somalia, Pakistan and other North African countries. Even though the drones won’t be flying out of the same township as the Toll Brothers and the Pharmaceutical Industry that funds her House campaigns, the move is reportedly going to create 250 jobs, with a whopping 75 of them being full time. Here is a round up of quotes from Representative Schwartz:
PhillyBurbs – Drone Command Center coming to Horsham
Schwartz said the Air Force plan “will help to secure the long-term viability of this strategic military installation. In addition, it will provide a boost for businesses in the community. At a time of cutbacks and downsizing across the federal government, I’m proud that we have been able to secure these new jobs for Pennsylvania and bring new resources and capabilities to our region.”
She called the selection of the 111th Fighter Wing “a testament to the wing’s strategic location and to the skill of the men and women who serve at the 111th.”
Allentown Morning Call – Horsham Air Guard Station operate unmanned droned
U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz, D-Montgomery County, says the mission is a major victory for the region — given the current economic climate.
“At a time of cutbacks and downsizing across the federal government, I’m proud that we have been able to secure these new jobs for Pennsylvania and bring new resources and capabilities to our region,” she said in a prepared statement.
So there you have it folks, the military industrial complex will be killing more innocent victims right in our backyard.
Rob McCord, just re-elected to his 2nd term as PA Treasurer– proving his statewide appeal– is my favorite at this point. He defends pubic education and public institutions whenever I have heard him speak and he is smart–very smart–and he has a fantastic business background and can debate anyone, anywhere using his humor, wit, and business savvy to prevail and win the day. He has enough money to retire into the sunset I am sure, but seems to thoroughly love being in public office. He understands public pensions and the DB/DC question far better than anyone I know. As much as we all detest money in politics, Rob will have no problem finding the money required to run a winning campaign. Check Rob McCord out!
